RMS watts is what you want to pay attention to also, not peak watts. Remember, a 5 spkr set kind of focuses sound to a sweet spot in the middle, not as good at filling the rest of the house. If you want to fill the house with music as you waltz around doing stuff, then invest in a more honkin 3 spkr set.which can pump out the sound better in an "outward direction" to fill the rest of the house. But next spring I'm blowing the roof off this ranch and adding a second floor.in which case I'll rebuild the current bedroom into a sweet den.and have my 'puter room all nice and organized.hopefully hang the rear speakers on the wall and embed the wiring.Īfter thinking about arrangement and sound while showering, if you listen to music sitting in a chair in front of your computer, or if you game a lot, nothing beats 5 spkr sets with their nice positional sound.your chair being centered in the "sweet spot". Yes it's tight behind me, but in a small room, sometimes I knock over those rear speakers. In my house, it's setup somewhat clumsily, but workable, with a 5 spkr set, and it's great for gaming. In my old beachhouse apartment, I so craved having a 5 spkr set.but where my 'puter was.absolutely no way to have 2 behind me. It's up to your budget, and wether you think you can work around having a 5 spkr set. I do play games, a couple of hours a week. It wont be used extensively for movies, except for my own use and I'll often use headphones. This is my ONLY system for listening to music. I'd perfer to order from newegg, since I'll be spending over a 1000 there on an upcoming order. I would consider another set of speakers as well. These are 83, which is beyond my budget but if they are as nice as they look.
